Today, we had to change schedules to accomodate special requests from both my parents and my husband. Let's get real, people, we know where I am from 8-4!
Anyway, I dropped off Eli early (7:45) rather than Husband dropping him off at 10.
Husband picked him up after his lunch and brought him home for his nap.
After Eli's nap, my parents came back to get him.
I picked him up after his dinner, when he was ready for a bath, just about 6:30. Whew! I'm tired just thinking about this day!
Now for the green hands = ? part...
My parents decided to take Eli to the library for story time today. He really enjoys the story, the music/singing, and the other kids. So, while mom was putting the carseat in the car, dad was 'supervising' the boy.
Eli went into the kitchen and my dad heard him open the pantry. Dad asked him to come back into the living room. However, he didn't come right away. Dad asked him to come back into the living room - again. When Eli did come back, he was carrying a little bottle of something - and, Dad got up and took it away from him.
A few minutes later, my mom came back into the house, they loaded the car and drove to the library. While picking out a book, my dad noticed that his hands were covered with some sort of green stain. It was from the middle of both palms to his finger tips and two of the fingernails were stained, too.
He went to the bathroom and scrubbed and scrubbed. When the story time was over, he went to get mom and Eli and related the story of the green stuff on his hands. Mom looked at her hands and noticed that two of her fingers were green, too.
On the way home, they discussed the possibilities for what that stuff was and how it got onto their fingers. Mom noticed some green spots on Eli's outfit when she was getting him out of the car. She tried to wash it with a baby wipe and the wipe came away green.
After stripping Eli, she put the outfit into the sink with some water and the water turned green. That's when she noticed a little bottle on the counter by the sink. The lid was cracked and green food coloring was dripping out! Mystery solved!
Upon further inspection, mom found more drops of green food coloring on the tile in the pantry and the kitchen floor.
Did you think this was some sort of early Halloween story?
gotta go pack. leaving for Louisville tomorrow!
