My Usual Valentine

For our very first Valentine's Day, Husband treated me to the Sing-along Sound of Music at the Majestic Theatre in Dallas. There was a catered Italian dinner, wine and props. We had great seats and we enjoyed the movie very much.

The next year, he bought me the DVD of the movie and made me a yummy Italian dinner. And there began our usual valentine dinner date!

This year was no different: Husband made a yummy Italian dinner and watched the movie.

Isn't the Sound of Music one of the most wonderful movies of all time? I hope to watch this movie with my honey for many more years!

Happy Birthday to MEEEEEEE!

Thanks to many of you for your emails, calls and cards - and general well wishes today. I have had a great day, overall. Considering this is my last birthday (officially) of the 30's, I think I'm doing okay. I wasn't doing so well over the weekend with the anticipation of it all...

It started with a little card opening with Husband this morning, then a phone call from my best friend (Jen) and a great breakfast. Once at work, I attended a three hour training and was able to sit with some of my favorite people from work. My best advice: If you have to be in a long training, be sure to sit with people you enjoy!

I decided to go to Chipotle for lunch on my way back to school from the training. Then, I decided I needed a vanilla coke from Sonic as well. So I made two stops on my way back to school. What an excellent birthday treat!

The afternoon at school went as normal. That is, except for the students who were hugging me and wishing me a Happy Birthday! Not that I don't get hugs from my students anyway, but this was different...

After school, I spent some time with my dad and Eli before heading home. I received some other phone calls from well-wishers before my phone died. (If that was you, please know we'll be able to finish our convo soon! You know who you are!) We picked up Husband and went to dinner at one of my favorite places - Chili's!! I hadn't been there for a few weeks so this was a nice treat. Eli did great eating my dinner - and his own!!!! Husband had told the waitress it was my birthday so they brought me dessert with a singing crew. It's been awhile since that happened and Eli's never seen that, so he was very happy with their performance. He even clapped! What a cute boy!

After a bath, some stories and teeth brushing, it was off to bed for Eli. Now, I'm waiting for Husband to finish his phone conversation with a client before we have some present opening.

This weekend, we'll have the family birthday celebration for me on Saturday and then Gram's 90th birthday celebration on Sunday. Any ideas on what to get your 90 year old grandmother who only wants to go back to her own house as a gift???

I have a weakness

for fabric. I like to look at it, fold it, cut it, sew it, lay in it, smell it. I imagine all the beautiful things I could make if only I had more time.

But with all the things on my plate lately, I've finished several projects and more projects have filled their space in line...when will the madness end????

I'll be sure to post pics of the bee baby room (for Vicki and Shawn's triplets), denim quilt or quilts for Cheri and David, etc...soon! The makeover/purging/reorganization of the space is going well. Most of the work is related to projects being finished and getting OUT!!!!!
