Drinkable yogurt

Today, it was my turn to do our grocery shopping. Somehow, when it's my turn, I end up taking Eli with me. When it's Husband's turn, he goes alone...hmmmmm...but that isn't what I wanted to say today.

Eli and I went to Sam's today. It was right about lunch time and there were lots of ladies peddling snack samples. Eli is always willing to try something ONCE. So, we tried some oranges (yummy - he ate mine), gouda cheese (I ate Eli's), Veggie chips (he liked the tomato but none of the others, I didn't see the benefit...), and then he tried a 'stuffed pancake.' Stuffed with what? you ask? Stuffed with strawberry jelly. Ewwwwww! But, after it cooled a bit, Eli ate the sticky messy treat. He didn't ask for 'more,' though...

After I'd cleaned him up with a wipe, we came upon a lady with drinkable yogurt. I am definitely a fan of those and have tried to get Eli to eat yogurt in any form...so, I chose the strawberry/banana flavor. He took the first sip from the paper cup and made this hilarious face - like Tom Hanks in "Big" when he eats caviar! So funny! He didn't spit it out (thankfully) and then in this hilarious voice he said, 'Water! Water!' It was so funny!

As I was reaching for his cup, I looked at the sample lady and now I wished I hadn't. She was grimacing very sternly! Sorry he didn't like your yogurt lady! Have a great day!

Ear infection

Thank God the pediatrician was open on Monday. After spending the entire weekend cuddling with Eli, we called the doctor early Monday. He continued to have a fever off and on all day until our appointment. Verdict: ear infection.

So, back home we came after a short visit with Grandma and Grandad and a stop at the pharmacy to spend another quiet evening at home. The preschool was closed on Tuesday - not that he would've gone anyway, but he didn't miss anything. He spent the day with my parents and I picked him up early.

Then, it was another night of sleeping in our bed and Mommy not getting enough sleep. Don't get me wrong, I love that he wants to be with me but I am absolutely exhausted! I haven't had a good nights' sleep since Thursday and his Daddy doesn't get up with him...So, here's hoping for a good nights' rest for all of us!

And, prayers that we're back to our regular schedule soon.

Also, please pray for my friend Angela. She's got so much on her plate right now: miscarriage (which is devastating enough) and some complications but then add that her dad has had a heart attack and her son has an ear infection. When it rains, it pours!

Long weekend!

I was hoping for a productive weekend. I have several projects to finish in the next couple of weeks and had made arrangements for Husband to have 'boy duty' for a few hours tomorrow so I could work undisturbed.

However, Eli came home from Grandma/Grandad's house today with a fever. I think that will effect my plans...

In addition, I was hoping to visit Vicki tomorrow and catch up! She is pregnant with triplets (holy cow!) and now on bedrest. As if that weren't bad enough, she's got a 2 1/2 year old, too, that now needs to be entertained by others so Vicki and rest! But, those babies are getting what they need - it takes a whole village. So, blessings to them.

So, send prayers for Vicki and her husband (Shawn) plus all four of their babies. In addition, send some wellness prayers for Eli.

Praying

for many friends tonight.
Some have lost someone they loved dearly,
Some are hoping for a new job,
Some have been touched by Cancer and are fighting valiantly,
Some are struggling with difficult job situations,
Some are having difficulty with their spouses.
Join me in prayers to lift them up if you're so inclined.

Ladder!

Eli now goes to preschool four mornings each week. My parents pick him up at 2 and then I get him from their house after school. On Fridays, though, he stays all day with them.

When I went to pick him up the other day, I heard, 'Ladder!' when I opened the door. As I walked in, I noticed that Eli was, in fact, going up and down the little stepstool my parents keep in their laundry room. He was even going over the front of it and saying, 'Slide!' This is one more thing he'll get to do at his grandparents' house that he doesn't get to do at home.

Have you heard that kids should know at least 200 words by the time they are 2 years old? As a special ed teacher, I have constantly been assessing Eli and his strengths since he was born. Poor kid took his first Brigance when he was 6 months old! Anyway, he's a little chatterbox right now. (Wonder where he got that from?) I spent some time on Sunday listing all the words he knows. At 20 months, he knows 140 words - AND COUNTING!!!!! Who knew???

My favorite phrase he says today is: 'take it easy' which Eli learned from my dad! What a blessing that he gets to spend so much time with them and learn from them, too!
