But they came home in a POLICE car...

We are so blessed that my parents have been keeping Eli for us. It hasn't always been easy with scheduling, etc. but they are having fun, we are enjoying knowing that they are making great memories together and Eli is making such a strong connection with Grandma and Grandad.

The last couple of weeks since school has started, they've been taking Eli to story time at the library, to visit my Gram at the rehab place, the grocery store, the park to feed ducks, swimming, the mall and other places. It's so great to know that they are doing some of their regular stuff with him in tow.

And, this past Sunday was Grandparents' Day. I think it's just another way for Hallmark to sell cards, but I'm 'buying in.' Mostly 'cause my Gram is the only grandparent I have left and also that my parents do so much for Eli - and for us. After much debate, we decided to get Mom and Dad a cell phone. (They haven't had one with more that 'emergency minutes' for years...) That being said, here's what happened today - my mom's edited email is below:

"We (GM and GD) had a great morning taking Eli to 2 storytimes at the M Library from 10 to 11.

Car would not start when we went to leave. Called Worthy and Tena on cells & left messages. Called neighbor to come get us & left message. Dad took Eli on a walk around while I called the insurance co. & tow truck. Put Eli back in car 'loose' & he examined rear AC buttons, door & window buttons. Tow truck came to jump battery. On our way home, we stopped at a stop sign & car died. Called same tow truck, but they couldn't send wrecker without ins. approval. I called Insurance co. again & said it would be at least an hour. Meanwhile, Water Dept. truck stopped & called Police. When the Policeman came, he said an hour was too long to tie up street. He called Dispatch who called same wrecker & the tow truck was there in 5 minutes. Towed car and Dad to dealership. Policeman put Eli's carseat in Police car and drove us home.

Eli was a real trooper! We only had a few pretzels and water with us. He ate them and was very hungry when we got home after 1 pm. Eli had a stinky diaper while we were waiting but didn't have a place to change him. He liked the red & blue police car lights. Eli's carseat was moved into the back of the police car for the ride home. Eli could kick the back of the front seat from his car seat. What a ride!"

So, another day for the history books. Eli had his first (hopefully his last!) ride in a POLICE car. No sirens were on...does that make a difference?

How funny! yes, hopefully that will be Eli's last trip in the back of a police car.
Brady had his first ride (hopefully last) when he was 8 weeks old. Another story! :)
