Happy Birthday, Eli!

For weeks, we've been asking Eli how old he will be on his birthday. He answers most of the time with 'cookies' or 'cupcakes' rather than an age.

But, this morning, I went in to get him and started singing to him. "Happy Birthday to Eli, Happy Birthday to Eli, Happy Birthday to yoooooou, Happy Birthday to Eli!" He smiled and giggled as I sang so then I asked the big question.

"How old are you today?"

The answer was, "Two years old! Yeah for Eli!"

I had made mini cupcakes for Eli to take to school and share with his friends. I made sure to remind Husband that they were out before I left for school. However, before I reached the building, my phone was ringing.

Eli had picked up the Tupperware box with the cupcakes inside and shook it - creating a big mess with the cupcakes. Husband then called me to let me know and ask what he should do...I told him to 'problem solve' that issue rather than help him. Why did he leave the cupcakes where Eli could get them?!?!?!

So, this evening, we had a little dinner with the three of us. Nothing too fancy. We opened a couple of gifts and played with them before bath and after bath. He went to bed without a fuss - I was expecting one with new toys around!

This weekend, my brother, my MIL, my parents, my Gram (if she feels up to it) and a few friends will come over to celebrate with us. What a difference this boy has made in our lives in the two years he's been here!

In the past few weeks, he's started really singing to music in the car, music in his head and making up songs of his own. I love to hear him sing - or 'jabber jabber' to himself. It really gives me some insight into that little brain! What a blessing he is!

I hope you have a happy Thursday with your loved ones!

How Sweet! Happy Birthday to Eli!! I cannot believe how big he's getting :) Sorry to hear that the cupcakes got ruined but kids (and husbands) sometimes don't do what you hope they will. Have a wonderful weekend :)
