Ladder!

Eli now goes to preschool four mornings each week. My parents pick him up at 2 and then I get him from their house after school. On Fridays, though, he stays all day with them.

When I went to pick him up the other day, I heard, 'Ladder!' when I opened the door. As I walked in, I noticed that Eli was, in fact, going up and down the little stepstool my parents keep in their laundry room. He was even going over the front of it and saying, 'Slide!' This is one more thing he'll get to do at his grandparents' house that he doesn't get to do at home.

Have you heard that kids should know at least 200 words by the time they are 2 years old? As a special ed teacher, I have constantly been assessing Eli and his strengths since he was born. Poor kid took his first Brigance when he was 6 months old! Anyway, he's a little chatterbox right now. (Wonder where he got that from?) I spent some time on Sunday listing all the words he knows. At 20 months, he knows 140 words - AND COUNTING!!!!! Who knew???

My favorite phrase he says today is: 'take it easy' which Eli learned from my dad! What a blessing that he gets to spend so much time with them and learn from them, too!
